The Wild Prequel To Wild Card Weekend?
Arizona/Green Bay
- For Arizona, it's just about trying to lock up at the bare minimum, a 3rd seed. Say, didn't they have that a year ago on their way to a Super Bowl? I honestly don't see Arizona losing to this GB team, but curiously...Arizona's better away from home this year. They're more dangerous this year than last I think, if that's even possible and it should scare both New Orleans and Minnesota.
I'm taking Arizona here.
Dallas/Philly
- For one of these spinally deficient teams, they'll get the NFC East crown and depending on if NYG finds what it couldn't on Sunday to stay alive...a first round bye. I remain convinced that neither of these teams are legitimate threats to win the NFC. They merely benefitted from the Giants being incapable of finding a look after 5-0 and sticking with it to the finish. Talentwise, I like Dallas. I think their ground game is good enough to keep Philly off the field and with the weapons Dallas has, it can and will make mincemeat of what I feel is a very suspect secondary without Brian Dawkins. (Mark this down, they will miss him come playoff time.)
On the other hand, there's Philly. Donovan's throwing it all over the place, DeSean Jackson might be the best #2 receiver getting #1 attention out there and alas...none of Andy Reid's kids have been arrested. A great thing I think. That aside, this isn't the same Dallas team that curled into the fetal position and got the Jenna Jameson treatment last year in Philly. They've got wins under their belt in this month and appear to be ready to move come January. They can take the first step on Sunday.
I'm taking Dallas. (Lesser of two sucks I say.)
Oh and historically speaking, the team that wins the regular season finale 8 times out of 10 go on to win the playoff rematch. True story. Oh and as for the Giants...well, they say sometimes you say more by not saying anything at all. So for now, that's just what I'll do. Say nothing and let it say more for me than if I were to go off on a rather heated diatribe about the lay down job they did on Sunday.
