Golden Tate With The Stinger Splash!

Personally, I would've used "I Believe I Can Fly," but that might be a little bit cliche at this point. Still, the multiple angles and multiple replays of Golden Tate's game-winning touchdown/flying cross body block on the horn section of the Michigan State band is very, very impressive. As impressive is the fact that the band didn't even bother getting out of the way.

Sometimes you just have to take the hit for Sparty, isn't that right, woodwinds?

The band "didn't even bother to get out of the way" because they were seated, shoulder-to-shoulder, on folding chairs. There were 300 people packed into the corner where ND set up the chairs. Not possible to move very far or fast when they are packed in there and holding instruments. Tate, who was fully padded and with helmet, unlike the band members, slammed into the shoulder of a female band member before he crashed into the chairs/turf.

Real impressive.

Funny, I don't see any chairs in that clip. I also don't see any possible space between the band members which would account for chairs either under or behind them. What I see are a bunch of band members STANDING shoulder-to-shoulder as close together as instruments would allow, which is what they usually do at football games when they're getting ready to go out on the field once the game is over.

If there were chairs involved, Tate would have caused a major domino reaction between himself, the band members and the chairs when he leaped into the crowd--and not only would he not have been able to walk away from that quite so easily, but there would have been more band members injured. Chairs would also never have been allowed that close to the sidelines because of the possibility of a player's momentum carrying them out that far.
