Ocho Problemo?
Excuse me? HE is the reason? Is he missing open receivers on offense? No, that's Carson Palmer. Is he missing open tackles, not covering the receivers and making plays that they were making two seasons ago when they lead the league in turnovers forced? No, that's the total lack of defense. Is he failing in preparation from week to week, is he not doing the job he's supposed to be doing as coach? No, that's Marvin Lewis. Supposed great defensive coach who's not so great at coaching up defenses from scratch it would appear.
Bottom line here is this; all Ocho Cinco can do is him. That's it. He can't do Carson's job, he can't do the job of 11 men who are paid to stop the other team from scoring, he can't draw up X's & O's expecting 22 people on both sides of the ball to execute. All he can do is go out there, catch the ball and hope all else falls into place as it should.
Yet this is the dual-edged sword, the double-standard society we live in; when a receiver's doing his thing and the team's winning, his antics are refreshing and funny. We can't wait to see what he'll do next week. Let the losses start piling up, though, and all of a sudden, his antics are a major distraction. He's a problem and all that.
As funny as it was to see the pot calling the kettle black on Sunday, I found it even funnier that we were supposed to have forgotten that only 10 years ago, Keyshawn wrote a scathing tell-all, basically screaming in no uncertain terms "Just Give Me The Damn Ball!". You did everything short of throw the towel boy under the bus for a craptastic season and then, after finally getting your Super Bowl ring, you got sent home for a year because you weren't playing well with others. Who in the fuck are you to pull rank, file or anything on someone? You're unemployed, holmes. Your old team drafted your replacement and sent you packing. You're a has-been trying to tell someone who's doing their thing, how to do it? Please, stop it before I take you seriously.
Chad's antics aren't the reason the Bengals have won only two games all year. But according to the brain-trust at ESPN, he is. As I watched earlier this morning, I couldn't help but laugh after a while. Couldn't help it. Chad was being serious as a heart attack and his demeanor/attitude all but stayed the same throughout. His answers weren't going to change for Me-shawn, ESPN's little whipping boy. Ah well, thanks for the laughs. Keep doing you, Ocho Cinco.
