An Open Letter To Adolf Stern.

Dear Adolf Stern,

This has not been a great year for you, it really hasn't. First, you drop the hammer of all hammers down on Carmelo Anthony for a sucker punch on a Knick. Granted, this wasn't on the Kermit Washington level or even remotely close to the Jermaine O'Haymaker that floored that fan who charged him and then slid after being hit...but still, you more than likely cost the Nuggets a better seed in the playoffs because sixth or not, drawing the Spurs in the first round is like being a sixteenth seed on Selection Sunday. It's all great until that initial four minute run's up, then it's 'grab your ankles' time. But as bad as your decision making was on that, I can't even begin to put into words the boner that you made in choosing Dirk No-win-ski as MVP this year.

I guess rather than give it to the Canadian who's played more like a Most Valuable Player, you're content with giving it to the Most Valuable Poser all because he's the "best player on the best team". Shaq was right to a degree, they really need to change how they hand this thing out because at this point...if LeBron manages to be on the Cavs when and IF Hell freezes over when they get the best record, he's got an MVP trophy coming his way too. Now I get that it's a regular season award and that before we saw how truly exposed he AND his team were in the playoffs. And hell, even in the regular season when the games were sort of an afterthought for the Mavs, Nash outperformed him AND his team twice. Take away those multiple winning streaks of double figures and odds are,
we're talking about how Nash is a three time winner of the MVP award.
Fact is Adolf, the Charmin German deserved this award about as much as LeBron deserved ROTY in his rookie campaign when anyone with basketball sense knew Carmelo deserved it. So congratulations Dirk on being handed your first ever MVP trophy, you German poser you. Take your trophy, go home and listen to some more David Hasselhoff.

Sincerely,
Len Gotti

Len, Len, Len, Len... Len... Len, this is God speaking... WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING, BOY?!! Spew out all the insults you want about Nowinski. Jack off the Eh-hole Nash all you want. Call Stern what you want. Let's me give you the reality check that Jade's tried to.

All your ranting about the MVP, isn't going to change shit about fuck. Of course, Shaq's right. The MVP is for the player on the best team, he fucking won it that way, dammit.

Now, let's get ready to slap more fucking sense into you. Yes, Stern dropped the hammer on Melo. Why? Because of the idiocy of Jermaine O'Haymaker and Ron Art-shittyrapper. If Stern didn't, it might has well have become the National Brawler Association by next year.

Last I checked, one player doesn't make a fucking team. Nuggets dropped the ball plain and simple. So did Dallas. Boo hoo, move the fuck on.

Now for your MVP complaint, yes, Nash didn't get it. While Nash made his Suns better, they still fucking sucked on D. In fact, they only found it this past series with a healthy Amare Stoudamire. Yes, I said it, Nash needed Amare to complete his dominance on both areas of the game. Dirk didn't need that. Dirk, pre-choke, could do both. He did defense badly, but better than the Canuck. You lose, sir.

Remember, Len. When it comes down to it, remember this. It's still Stern's league. He, the players union, and the press vote on the MVP. If you hate the MVP so much, go look up the NBA writers pool. Oh, and try to call your player's reps. Your boy Melo probably did vote for Dirk, too. Sorry about your luck.

(Yes, this is uncommon, but I love the guy. And yes, I had to.)

Amen Rich! As humble as I may be (Ha-ha!), I must say, you TOLD HIS (Len's) ASS! Now, this is the kind of profanity that livens up the fuckin' "SB." Only thing I have to add is: Rich has cast down upon thee (Len) & shattered his false beliefs with royal fucktations! This has revved the royal fuckabilities amongst the prior asininity...in all aspects - in a pompous fuckilicious fashion... I holla!
P.S. - Damn Rich, you made Len look like a victim of an unwanted "Bukkake Party." [The crowd is now throwing rotten fruit & beer cans at Len......what will he come back with?]

Posted by O.D. at 05/11/07 14:46:58

Len, sweetness, the MVP award is given out for performance during the REGULAR SEASON. It is not a guarantee that the winner's team will even BE in the playoffs, much less win the whole shebang.

Besides, Nash has gotten the award for the past two years, if I'm not mistaken. I would think that even he would say that it was time someone else got a chance to have it. (Could have been worse, it might have even gone to your boy LeBron. Wouldn't that have been fun? *evil grin*)

As to Carmelo Anthony's punishment, much as I love 'Melo, hit and run is a punk-ass thing to do. He deserved a good long time-out to think about things and decide if that is the direction in which he wants his career to go. I think that suspension has done him some good in the long run.

Rich--next time, just ask and I'll loan you my barbed-wire covered baseball bat. ;)

Floyd Mayweather Sr. must be Carmelo's boxing trainer, because he uses the 'stick and run like a bitch' style made famous by Floyd Jr.

Posted by Ron at 05/12/07 11:06:18

Actually, you'd have to credit Floyd's uncle Roger for the "stick and run like a bitch" lesson. Floyd, Sr. is more famous for teaching Oscar how to fade out like a pussy in the late rounds. :)

Posted by Jade at 05/12/07 12:27:22

Of course Oscar fades out in the later rounds, Jade, he's tired from carrying around that gigantic money-stuffed wallet.

Posted by Ron at 05/12/07 12:52:29

Freddie Roach must have convinced Oscar to leave that wallet at home, then, because Oscar definitely didn't fade out against Floyd. If Oscar's going to fight again, he should seriously consider checking into the Roach Motel instead of Floyd's Flop House. ;)

I'm gonna keep my reply short and real simple.

Yes, Nash has had S.T.A.T by his side, but the last time I checked...The Jet and Josh Howard weren't exactly Spam. The same team that won 67 games, looked like chumps who were lost in the sauce in 6 games (which I firmly believe would've been a lot shorter if it weren't for the Cuban Factor costing Baron and Stephen ejections in Dallas). My point, which was missed as I presumed it would be was this. The MVP shouldn't be based on who's on the best team, because if that's the case, let's just drop the damn thing entirely as it defeats the purpose of mentioning so many other players who ruly and truly, don't have a shot in hell of getting it.

Nash as I've stated in numerous other columns which probably weren't read all the way through, plays the way an MVP should play. And this is ever evident by one simple factoid...

We're about to see a best two out of three, instead of Nash getting ready for another long summer. Bloody noses don't keep this Canuck out of close games. Less than this seems to apply for our Charmin German. A lot less actually. So yeah, best man on the best team won it so I guess going forward here's what I'd advise the Kobes, Nashs and yeah, even the LBJs of the world going forward.

Finish with the best record if you want Adolf to hand you the trophy. At least the NFL isn't this damn bad with it...(although this can't be applied to LT21, who actually did more than enough for the Bolts to win...just...oy)

Posted by Len at 05/15/07 10:09:47

It is good to see you come back - with something...Len. I understand & deam what you just said, as a 'feasible act of reason'.....BUT, you're living in the wrong world because unfortunatly,...the most common (humanoid) specimens, thrive off of "Names & Titles" (even though they mean absolutely nothing) to provide meaning in their current existence. The fuckin' MVP does stand for the so-called "Most Valuable Player"...NOT the Best or Most Worthy Player! Get it(?)...V-A-L-U-A-B-L-E........that's the title for you! What is valuable (in today's world) about being a great player on a shitty team? Absolutely fucking nothing (on a materialistic note)! If you're going to argue with this money hungry/title hungry/power hungry/materialistic world (I'm definitely not one of them) with a notable, prominent, justifiable or dignified reason or statement...then you better pack a fuckin' lunch because it will be a long fight! I actually understood what you meant; I just get so caught up in the Drama, that I enjoy the disputes...Ha-ha! It is a good thing this isn't my site or else, I'd be pumping some hardcore philosophic infestations upon thine ass! I don't think anyone on this site wants to hear me 'break it down' because I'd probably get banned from the site by being the most misunderstood, non-compatible lifeform...amongst the whole community. Speaking of that.......I don't think I'm gonna make comments on this site [Hooray-hooray the crowd says]for a long while (except on this post) because I just realized.....this is a sports blog, not an 'intellectual haven'. Keep up the good work guys/girls.........

Uh...yeah, that's nice.

$50 for the person or persons who takes away O.D.'s caffeine supply NOW.

Posted by Len at 05/16/07 11:29:28

You might want to raise the ransom...Len, because I'm not a big caffeine fan. That is something I don't need very much of (caffeine), something that makes me think even faster. I deem alcohol as the 'breakfast of champions'...not caffeine & Wheaties. $50?......Damn, I feel under-priced...Ha-ha! Don't worry, as soon as this post is silenced, I doubt I'll be making anymore comments on this site. Enjoy your coffee! Ha-ha!

Posted by O.D. at 05/16/07 14:02:05

I almost forgot: Len, don't pre-assume anyone has to be 'hopped up' on anything - to utilize such simplistic/realistic thoughts that complicate the primitive/neolithic brainwaves amongst thee (that goes out to ALL the 'simple minded' fucks).... You & soooo many others, seem to be so benighted at the presence of anything other than your (including the majority of the humanoid population) biased 'focal points'...amongst other things/factors...that include deeper meanings, insight & complex ('simple' is 'complex' to the common "Homo sapiens") thoughts. Just remember.....'Ignorance' is the opposite of 'Awareness', but neither one.......ever ends. Those 2 terms are both infinitive..., so you might want/ought to flip-flop your current spectrum..............................
