North Carolina Bar Association Pulls a Power Play on Mike Nifong
Considering that most bums wouldn't even consider hiring Mikey now after the past few debacles he had, how much worse could it get? A lot worse. As in, "losing the right to practice law forever," worse. In fact, NC picked up a certain book of thought that's now got Mike by the ballsack. Yes, even those scum-sucking lawyers have ethics, and it seems Mike's broken a few too many for them to take anymore.
Yeesh, it's bad when you give lawyers an even worse name. And trust me, they went Constitutional for the first whammy. Which one is that? Read below the cut. Nifong is accused by the NC Bar for the following:
1. Direct violation of the Sixth Amendment. As the number six states, "In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district where in the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense."
2. Possible libel and slander towards the accused. As Nifong had not directly talked to the witness, he built a "stacked paper" case. Of course, it'd be great if you got the facts, Mikey, but you didn't. The comments you also made during your stand swayed the public to your side. After the swiss cheese defense, they swayed against it. Still a violation, nonetheless.
3. Baiting the defense. How, you ask:
* Nifong referred to the lacrosse players as a bunch of hooligans.
* He declared: I am convinced there was a rape, yes, sir.
* He told ESPN: One would wonder why one needs an attorney if one was not charged and had not done anything wrong.
* He told The New York Times: Im disappointed that no one has been enough of a man to come forward. And if they would have spoken up at the time, this may never have happened.
4. Strike Four. Lying to the public. *gasp* You don't say? As quoted by MSNBC, "Nifong was also charged with breaking a rule against dishonesty, fraud, deceit and misrepresentation. The bar said that when DNA testing failed to find any evidence a lacrosse player raped the accuser, Nifong told a reporter the players might have used a condom."
However, "According to the bar, Nifong knew that assertion was misleading, because he had received a report from an emergency room nurse in which the accuser said her attackers did not use a condom."
Mikey's not looking too good right now, folks. In fact, he's going to looked at very glaringly by a Disciplinary Hearing Commission. This said commission is made up of lawyers and various legal experts outside of the law field.
Mikey better keep that look for the next few years. While he's at it, developing a phobia of blue isn't a bad idea, either...
